On September 18, 2015, Cedric Novenario informed LASD about the improvements at the Miramonte/Covington crossing of the following-

Miramonte/Covington Pedestrian Improvements

The Miramonte/Covington Pedestrian Improvement project includes pedestrian improvements at all four corners of the intersection at Miramonte Avenue and Covington Road. In order to improve pedestrian safety, pedestrian refuge curb returns will be constructed along with new and refreshed crosswalks.

Anticipated Community Impacts

In order to minimize traffic impacts during heavy commute hours, work hours for this project will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additionally, the project will be phased so that improvements are completed on the north side of the intersection before work commences on the south side.

Tentative work schedule:

·         Preliminary site work will begin on September 28

·         North side improvements are scheduled for October 19 – November 6

·         South side improvements are scheduled for November 9 – December 4

On Feb 12, 2015 Blach PTA joined all other LASD school PTAs in endorsing a resolution to improve the safety for bicyclers and pedestrians in the City of Los Altos and around schools in particular. This resolution will be presented to the School board on 3/23 and the City Council in March (date TBD). Click here to read the resolution.
