Hello my name is Jeremy Liewer. I am the STAR Lab and Engineering teacher at Blach. The Los Altos School District is truly my home. I am a proud alumni of both Almond and Egan. LASD has been a part of my family's life for 70 years. It started with my grandmother as a LASD school board member in the 1950’s and my father in many roles including the Assistant Superintendent over his 40 year career. I am proud to continue in their footsteps as a proud teacher at Blach School for the past 17 years. My teaching interests are very student-centered. I enjoy giving students the freedom and flexibility to create amazing projects in my lab classroom. The highlight of my days in the classroom are always centered around student success and the excitement and satisfaction I see on their faces when they're able to create something beyond what they thought they were capable of doing. Over my 17 years, I've been very fortunate to have been given the freedom to create exciting classes at Blach. It all started in 2004 with Arthur Harris giving me the green light to create the Engineering class. Over the years, I created the Robotics Class, Leadership Class, Video Production, Maker Lab Class and a gardening class called Eco Action. My most recent creation is the STAR Lab class. I also have enjoyed coaching Blach athletes over my career. I've coached soccer, volleyball, track, and a championship-winning girls’ basketball team. A truly wonderful way to get to know my students is to travel with them. I was fortunate enough to go to Washington DC five times with the Blach students and Anaheim a handful of times with Blach's musicians. My past at Blach has been bright and exciting, and I look forward to a bright and exciting future teaching and inspiring Blach students.
